One of the nice things about first moving into a rental home is how clean everything is. A quality landlord will see to it that, before move-in day, the kitchen, bathrooms, and every other room of the home has been thoroughly cleaned. However, since time and daily use does take its toll on the rooms, even bathrooms that are kept clean fairly regularly will still need a good deep cleaning. To keep your Dawsonville rental home’s bathrooms sanitary and in good order, you should complete some deep cleaning tasks. Do this every few months to ensure that your bathrooms are kept sparkling clean.
Maybe the areas that need deep cleaning the most are your tub, shower, and showerhead. Every one of these needs to be deep cleaned regularly to remove residue buildup and water spots. A good and simple way to clean any bathroom surface is by mixing a few drops of white vinegar with a cup of baking soda to make a paste. Spread the mixture over the tub or shower door and let it sit for an hour. This allows the mixture some time to work. Then wipe and rinse it clean. For shower walls, try spraying them with an all-purpose cleaner then let the hot water run until the shower fills with steam. Close the shower door and let the cleaner sit for about twenty minutes, then wipe down with a wet sponge or cloth.
Vinegar works great on sinks and showerheads, too. To clean a sink with vinegar, all you have to do is pour out a small amount, scrub, and flush with hot water. To clean a showerhead with white vinegar, fill a bag with it and then place the bag over the showerhead so that the entire fixture is soaking in the vinegar. Secure it down with a rubber band or twist-tie and let sit overnight. The next morning, remove the bag and wipe the showerhead clean.
Another part of the bathroom you should consider giving a deep clean regularly is the toilet. Even though there are many different toilet cleaners on the market, the best way is to deep clean a toilet is still using baking soda. Simply pour a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl and let sit for about five minutes. When the five minutes are up, brush thoroughly with a toilet brush. When you’re done scrubbing, flush the toilet and let the water rinse it clean.
If your rental home’s bathroom has tile, it’s important that you deep clean the grout to avoid bacterial growth. Bleach and a grout brush are the best ways to lighten discolored grout lines and kill anything trying to grow between your tile. To really keep grout watertight, it’s advised to reseal it every six months or so to keep moisture and bacteria out. Bleach can also be used to address any mold growing in windowsills or other areas. Prepare the cleaner by mix one part bleach to two parts water and scrub any mold spots with a sponge.
Deep cleaning a bathroom doesn’t need to take up a lot of time and effort, but you need to remember to do it on a regular basis. Now you know how the pros deep clean a bathroom, you can more easily stay on top of this important maintenance task.
